A Comparison of Women’s Role and Presence in Management Positions of Sport and Non-Sport Organizations

| The aim of the present study was to investigate and compare women’s role and presence in management positions of sport and non-sport organizations of Khorasan Razavi province. The research method was descriptive of comparative type with was conducted as a field study. The statistical population in sport organizations consisted of all sport chairwomen and vice chairwomen of sport boards in Khorasan Razavi Province (N=43) and all female managers and employees in Sport Organization of Mashhad Municipality (N=34). The statistical population for the non-sport organization consisted of all female managers and employees in Education General Office of Khorasan Razavi province (N=51). Due to the limitation of the subjects, all female employees and managers were selected as the sample. A standard questionnaire was used to collect data. The validity was confirmed by experts and its reliability was established through Cronbach Alpha Coefficient (α=0.83). For data analysis, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, independent t, and U Mann-Whitney tests were applied. The findings revealed a significant difference in gender discrimination, contradiction between work and family, family support and work relationships between sport and non-sport organizations (P≤0.005). Moreover, there was no significant difference in gender stereotype, glass ceiling, and leader support between sport and non-sport organizations (P≥0.005). |
