In the present study, we investigated the relationship between self-leadership and human capital of sports science depamrtents of Kerman public universities with mediation of strategic management of human resources. This study was a descriptive-correlational study that has been conducted as a field study. The statistical population of this study consisted of faculty members and staff of sports science departments of Kerman public universities (n = 175). among them, n= 120 were selected as the sample by stratified sampling method. For data collection, after confirming validity and reliability, self-leadership (Abili and Mazari, 2014), human capital (Naderi, 2011) and modified strategic management of human resources (Huang and Chen, 2009) questionnaires were used.
The data were analyzed using partial least squares and Sobel test. The results show that the relationship between self-leadership and human capital of sports science departments of public universities is positive and significant and self-leadership has a positive effect on increasing human capital through strategic management of human resources.  It can be concluded that promotion of self-leadership behaviors not only promote the growth of human capital, but also facilitate the empowerment of human capital through the strategic management of human resources. Therefore, self-leadership with realization of personal development in various aspects such as psychology, cognition and skill causes an individual behaving with greater mastery and ability in the face of individual, professional and organizational situations and thus provides sustainable and increasing development of the organization.
