Abstract

As football referees are always under the pressure of excitement and stress of the match authorities, teams, coaches, players and spectators, they highly tend to the phenomena “Burnout”. So the present study aimed to investigating the role of burnout factors in the judgment of football referees in Iran football premier league. This study was descriptive-analytical and at field. The statistical population consisted of 75 football referees who judged in Iran football premier league. Three main questionnaires were used to collect data: demographic, Maslach burnout questionnaire (α=0.91) and burnout factors (α=0.87). The results showed a significant difference between decreased accomplishment and burnout of football referees (t=15.371, p<0.05). There was also a significant difference between referees' depersonalization and their burnout (x2=30.16, p=0.000). Managerial factors with MR=5.35 and economic factors with MR=3.88 were considered as the most important factor of burnout while individual and environmental factors with MR=2.42 and MR=2.92 were considered as the least important factors. Considering referees' job situation and presenting decent planning in order to hire efficient referees, making calmness in their job position were among the main measures that superior managers should exert to prevent the infectious phenomenon of burnout in football referees.

Abstract

Organizational commitment is one of the important factors in the relationships between individuals and organizations in management and literature of behavioral sciences and plays an important role in general growth and development of organizations. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship of media stress and resilience with organizational commitment in the referees of Iran premier league. The methodology was descriptive-correlative. The statistical population consisted of all referees in premier football league. The whole population was considered as the sample (N=n=95).  Media Stressors in Football Questionnaire (Kristiansen, Halvari, and Roberts, 2012), Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (2003) and Allen and Meyer's Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (1990) were used to measure the variables. Results showed that media stress and resilience could predict organizational commitment of Iran premier league referees. These results contribute to more attention to proper strategies in order to decrease referees' faults and raise sport judgment quality.

Abstract

This study was designed to predict the attitudinal construct of job involvement through core job characteristics in soccer referees. 157 referees and assistant referees working in Iran premier and A division soccer leagues responded to standard questionnaires of Work Design (Morgeson and Humphrey, 2006) and Job Involvement (Kanungo, 1982). Regarding the number of referees, statistical sample equaled the statistical population. Face validity of the questionnaires was confirmed by 17 sport management experts and soccer referees. The most important descriptive results showed that A-league referees reported more job involvement than premier league referees. Also, the results of structural equation model illustrated that the most important job characteristics influencing soccer referees’ job involvement were autonomy, task identity, and feedback. Although task identity and autonomy were fit, these indexes were not confirmed for pathway of feedback to job involvement. These findings recommend that referees should be assigned more authority and job rules should be revised. Finally, managers of soccer referees are suggested to eliminate referees’ false responsibilities and pressures in addition to revising and changing assistant referees’ tasks during this job redesigning.

Abstract

This study aimed at examining the relationship of work-family conflict management with job satisfaction and performance among football league referees. The method was correlation and field. The statistical population included 212 football referees (98 referees working in premier league and 114 referees working in 1st division). The sample consisted of 78 premier league referees and 81 referees from 1st division selected by stratified random sampling method using Morgan Table. Netmayer and Mcmarian (1996) Work-Family Conflict Questionnaire (α=0.87), Smith et al. Job Satisfaction Questionnaire (2001) (α=0.89) and Hersey and Goldsmith Job Performance Questionnaire (1981) (α=0.83) were used to collect data. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Pearson correlation and Friedman test were used. Results showed no significant relationship between work-family conflict and job satisfaction and performance of football referees. There was a significant positive relationship only between work-family conflict and satisfaction from colleagues. In addition, football referees attached the highest priority to satisfaction from work and the lowest priority to salary and benefits among all job satisfaction factors. Therefore, an efficient relationship between a referee and his colleagues plays an effective role in improving referees' personal life and job satisfaction.

Abstract

The main aim of this study was to recognize communication skills, referee skills and efficiency of referees in premier league and to explain their relationships. The present study was applied and descriptive in terms of strategy and survey in terms of methodology. The statistical population consisted of all 96 referees and assistant referees of Iran football premier league in 2015-2016 season. The sample was purposively considered so the population and sample were identical. Communication Skills, Referee Skills and Efficiency Questionnaires with the reliability (0.81, 0.88, 0.90 respectively) were used in this study. Data were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Results showed a significant relationship between communication skills, referee skills and efficiency of referees. The results of measuring models of path analysis of communication skills, referee skills and efficiency of referees showed a high fit of this model and confirmed the conceptual models of this study. Therefore, it is suggested that this model should be considered as one of the selection patterns of referees when Iran football premier league referees are being selected.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to level the relationships of professional competencies of Iranian football referees. The statistical population of this study included 13 experts, referees, experts, and faculty members who were purposefully selected. For the level of competency components of football referees, the interpretative structural modeling technique (ISM) was used by MATLAB software. For this purpose, in this research, the expert judgment system has been used and a paired questionnaire has been distributed in terms of effectiveness and impact on each other. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed through formal and content validity and the alpha coefficient was used to measure the reliability of the research, with an estimated value of 0/89. The findings showed that in the study of the relationships of the research components, the components of "managerial competency" are at the first level and "psychological competence and social competence" at the second level, indicating the high impact of these three variables. Also, the components of "knowledge merit and physical merit and field deserves" were at the third level, which was the most influential component of the professional competencies of the Iranian Football Premier League. Finally, using the MICMAC technique, variables were analyzed according to conductivity and dependence
