Abstract

The aim of this study was the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of sporting success indicators questionnaire. The statistical population consisted of coaches, athletes and executive directors of four selected federations as well as the managers of the National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sport and Youth who were selected non-randomly and purposively. 153 subjects were selected as the sample by Morgan table. After examining the face validity, confirmatory factor analysis was used to examine the construct validity. Cronbach's alpha was used to investigate the reliability which ranged between 0.74 and 0.89 for the ten factors which showed the suitable reliability of the questionnaire. Results of CFA showed that the structure of the ten factors was fair with regard to item discrimination and adaptation to theories. These results also showed that the 10-factor model of sporting success questionnaire, including financial support, structure and policy making, sport participation, talent identification system, career-sport support, educational and training facilities, coaching system, national and international competitions, scientific researches and championship, had good fit. It is suggested that this questionnaire should be applied to other fields and samples in future researches in order to assure its validity and reliability.

Abstract

The aim of this study was the relationship of coaches' power sources with persuasion space, commitment and sport success in adolescent boxers of Iran. The research method was descriptive - survey. The statistical population included all boxers attending Iran Adolescent Boxing Championship in 2015 (N=296). The statistical sample was equal to population. Standard Questionnaire of Power Sources by Sussman and Deep (1989), Questionnaire of Perception of Success by Roberts and Thresher (1998), Sport Commitment Scale by Scanlan et al. (1993) and Questionnaire of Motivational Climate by Seifriz et al. (1992) were used. Validity was approved by 10 experts and reliability was confirmed with Cronbach's alpha as 0.72, 0.92, 0.93 and 0.86 respectively. For data analysis, descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (k-s, Friedman analysis, Spearman correlation coefficient and multiple regression) were used. Results showed that 'expertise' had the highest mean rank (3.62) among power sources. Also, there was a significant and negative relationship between 'coercion' and 'expertise' and sport success and commitment (P≤0.05). There was a significant relationship between dimensions of persuasion space and success and commitment (P≤0.05). It is suggested that coaches should utilize expertise more than other power sources in order to increase success and commitment of adolescent boxers in an appropriate persuasion space.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the ways to successful imitation strategy in sport entrepreneurship companies which was conducted in two steps. Firstly, the ways were identified by Delphi technique and then a model was developed by interpretive structural modeling. So, 6 experts were selected from sport management professors by purposive sampling method and the Delphi rounds continued until a theoretical agreement was reached. In the second step, 15 experts from the Beta brand sales agents were selected by purposive sampling method and paired comparison questionnaire were distributed among them to develop the model. Data were analyzed by SPSS22 software in the first step and the calculations of the second step were conducted with the MATLAB2014 software. Delphi method identified ‘imitating the leading brand name’, ‘imitating the leading brand appearance’, ‘imitating the leading brand identity’, ‘imitating the leading brand image’, ‘promoting the perceived value of the imitation brand’, ‘promoting national production support’, ‘imitation brand store’ and ‘the success of the imitation strategy’ as the ways and interpretive structural modeling developed a model in 4 levels for identified ways. Based on the results, the imitation strategy can promote the image and perceived value of imitation and provide the success of sport entrepreneurs in the market by creating an identity similar to leading brands.

Abstract

Abstract
The aim of this research was to identify factors affecting success of the basketball coaches. To conduct this qualitative research, which was exploratory in nature, the theory of Strauss and Corbin (1998) was used. The participants (n=28) in this study were all experts (coaches, national team players, basketball experts and executive officials) were selected through purposive sampling until reaching saturation of data. Analysis of the data involved three-phase coding, while the Evaluative Criteria of Lincoln and Guba (1985) consisting of `Credibility,’ `Transferability,’ `Dependability,’ and `Confirmability,’ was used for the reliability and generalization purposes. The initial coding of the research findings yielded 92 codes (concepts) with 302 frequencies. This is while, the axial coding presented 23 sub-categories and eventually five major categories (`The Leadership and Managerial Capabilities,’ `Personality Features,’ `Experience and Track Record of the Coach,’ and `The Cultural and Moral Features of the Coach’) emerged as a result of selective coding. Regarding the research findings, those interested in basketball coaching and the coaches, who wish to get promoted in the field, are suggested to care for personal growth and try to upgrade their capabilities and potential in the afore-mentioned areas. Furthermore, since coaching is a profession like teaching, which deals with educating and training individuals, the federations and even Ministry of Science, Research and Technology are suggested to set up scientific centers to deal with development of coaches, while putting specialized courses, being exclusive to any sports branches, in the educational syllabus; then introducing and referring those, who successfully pass the course, to municipality offices and related organs for practical courses and give them coaching certificates after graduation.
